SUBIOS marks 20 years, 2010 poster is out
by STB
SUBIOS, Seychelles popular underwater festival, celebrated its 20th anniversary last month with its usual host of activities, albeit on a smaller scale.
The new poster announcing the competition for next year is already out and depicts a breathtaking shot of a turtle in the clear aqua-marine waters of Seychelles with a white sandy beach in the background.
With a view to rendering the SUBIOS festival more exciting and turning it into a real marketing tool for Seychelles, the activities were scaled down this year from one week to two days.
Now, a better and more attractive programme will be put together for next year to better promote the Seychelles underwater scene for what it is. It is to be noted that the Seychelles’ marine life is one of the most enviable in the world and SUBIOS does not only bring out those amazing underwater scenes but also highlights the country’s conservation efforts in that area.
Alain St Ange, director of tourism marketing at the Seychelles Tourism Board, has said that Seychelles should be proud of what it has by promoting its attributes and allowing people to appreciate them.
“From now on, people will see completely new pictures of Seychelles for such events,’ he said, adding: “We’ve got so much to offer and show to the world, and if we can’t do that, then we are wrongly marketing ourselves.”
He added that SUBIOS would come back better next year, under the new theme Seychelles: seas of a thousand species, which will put emphasis on our oceans as natural habitats.
