Seychelles Regatta 2010 – one to be remembered
by STB

The second edition of the Seychelles Regatta held in May will be remembered for its stiff wind and even stiffer competition, whereby victory was claimed by local boat Hyundai.
This year’s competition had some nine boats participating with some top skippers well-known in the European sailing scene , including Michel Desjoyeaux, Armel Le Cléac’h, Samantha Davies, Yann Eliès, Romain Attanasio, Jérémie Beyou, Servanne Escoffier, Jean-Claude Dupouy and Yvon Bénéteau.
The tough competition lasted a whole week whereby Hyundai, skippered by Yann Eliès with an all local crew, were crowned the winners, placing last year’s victor Michel Desjoyeaux and his Champagne Nicolas Feuillate crew second. The third overall position was secured by the Château Perenne Grand Vin de Bordeaux boat skippered by Armel Le Cléac’h.
The 2010 sailing competition has been hailed a great success with plans already afoot to widen the competition for next year’s event.
