The Seychelles Regatta 2009
The Seychelles Regatta 2009 will take place from the 15th to 24th May, time when the weather is any sailor’s friend providing wind and sunshine without mentioning the typically warm welcome from the people of the Seychelles!
Blue Ocean Events is the company appointed by the Seychelles government to organise from 2009 onwards a yearly week of regattas named the ‘Seychelles Regatta’.
The Seychelles Regatta is an exclusive semi-professional competition bringing together twenty companies that will sail along the magnificent sites of the Seychelles islands during eight days.
The fleet will consist of 36’ to 57’ catamarans and crews of 6 to 8 people mainly from Belgium, France and Great Britain. Benefiting from some of the world’s best fishing spots, this year’s regatta will also include a deep sea fishing competition aside the sailing races.
The competition will be spiced up by the participation of well known sailors in the world sailing races.
Michel Desjoyeaux, Vendée Globe and The Transat 2004 winner amongst other races, has already registered for the annual event. Other famous sailors have expressed their intention in participating in the Seychelles Regatta 2009, such as Roland Jourdain, Sébastian Col and Yann Eliès.
