Smoking: A No-No at the Seychelles airports
by STB
Customers at the Seychelles International and Domestic Airports have noticed that “No Smoking” signs have been posted everywhere.
This along with other measures have been put in place by the Seychelles Civil Aviation Association (SCAA) following the new laws prohibiting smoking in all public and work places as well as on public transportation.
The new law is aimed at bringing about a more smoke-free Seychelles.
Following the actions taken by SCAA, smoking is therefore officially banned throughout all the Seychelles airports, including the Mahé International and Domestic Airport, as well at the Praslin Domestic Airport.
According to SCAA, both French and English smoking signs have been put up in all terminals and toilet facilities and the smoker’s corner in the departure lounge has been closed down as well.
SCAA said its support towards the new law is to protect workers and the public from the hazardous effects of passive smoking at the airports.
Those who are caught smoking at the airport will be liable to a fixed penalty notice or will be prosecuted.
