Kenyans lured to holiday in Seychelles

Europe remains Seychelles’ main tourist hub but there have been efforts by the Seychelles Tourism Board to open up other markets which have potentials to increase visitor arrivals to Seychelles. Kenya is one market which is seeing aggressive promotion work and two weeks ago, a delegation from Seychelles attended the Holiday Tourism Expo in Nairobi. Seychelles is targeting the Kenyan nationals who have the money to spend on travel as well as the many expatriates living and working in that country.
Seychelles’ first time participation at the fair opened up a new option for potential travellers and they were captivated by the destination. Many are now considering a holiday here either during the Easter holiday, August or Christmas holiday season.
According to Sharon Rosalie; Manager for the East African market, most consumers knew about Seychelles but considered it an expensive holiday destination.
“We explained about the Affordable Seychelles campaign and the wide range of accommodation available while still having access to the same natural resources. However, there were consumers who had already considered Seychelles but needed guidance in selecting suitable accommodation and activities,” she explained.
