Honeymooner is 100,000th visitor
18 August 2008
Newly married Sebastien Rykala is Seychelles’ 100,000th visitor this year.
He and his bride Sabrina were pleasantly surprised to learn this on arriving at the International Airport on Thursday last week when Julia Bick of the Seychelles Tourism Board (STB) presented him with a gift pack soon after they got off their Air Seychelles flight from Paris.
The visibly delighted couple wed on July 12 and are here on honeymoon. They believe the 100,000 tag spells good fortune for their marriage.
The pack Ms Bick and Christina Samson of the STB gave the couple comprised a hard-cover copy of the latest edition of the book Aldabra, a full-colour Business and Leisure Guide, a T-shirt with the Seychelles: Another World logo as well as two mugs and pens with the same logo on them.
The couple are in Seychelles for the first time and will be here for 15 days. Seychelles welcomed 161,273 visitors last year – 15% more than in 2006 – and the 100,000th arrival came on August 18.
The STB hopes the country will reach the 170,000 visitor mark in 2008. |
