Tourists join in Queen’s baton excitement by STB

The Queen’s baton journey in Seychelles ended earlier this week and some tourists staying at the Berjaya Beau Vallon Bay Beach Resort & Casino were honoured to hold it in their hands hours before it left our shores.
The Queen’s baton relay has been the curtain-raiser to every Commonwealth Games since 1958 in Cardiff, Wales.
Seychelles was the 19th stop for the Queen’s baton and relays were held on the three main islands – Mahe, Praslin and La Digue – with the whole nation rallying behind it.
From Seychelles, it moved to Mauritius to continue its African leg.
After travelling more than 190,000 kilometres in 340 days, visiting 70 countries and all the capital cities of India’s 28 states, the relay will end at the XIX Commonwealth Games’ opening ceremony in the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium on October 3, 2010.
The final relay runner will hand the baton to the Queen or her representative.
