Assessing India as a potential market
by STB

Seychelles recently conducted a field trip in India to assess the potential for the development of this market.
The director of tourism marketing at the Seychelles Tourism Board, Alain St Ange, together with the Director for Asia and Australasia, Myrna Michel, joined the Seychelles High Commissioner in India, Dick Esparon, for a four-city tour to meet with tour operators and airlines in a bid to open our destination to that market.
Mr St Ange commented that India remains a potential market and one that can be tackled in earnest when direct and regular air links are in place.
“We had set out a plan of action that took us to Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata and Delhi in a bid to meet the business community, the tourism trade, the press and potential airlines,” said Mr. St Ange.
“We were very much encouraged by this preliminary trip because everyone we met wanted to help to get Seychelles on the Indian tourist market. If the feedback from this trip is any indicator of where we should be heading with regards to this market, then I believe much of the groundwork is done for us.”
The Indian tour operators have expressed their enthusiasm about the new push from Seychelles and small groups of clients are already arriving in the country.
