Glimpses of Seychelles beamed to millions in Amazing Race
by STB

Earlier this year, Seychelles hosted the filming of Episode Seven of the Amazing Race TV show which has since been viewed by over 12.7 million viewers.
That episode has been rated as the ‘best watched’ as contestants travelled from Paris to Seychelles, to race each other in breathtaking locations.
Footage of the islands of Mahé, La Digue, St. Pierre and Praslin were splashed on TV screens in the United States, earning Seychelles some important visibility in that market.
The first challenge was set on La Digue Island, whereby the contestants had the choice of competing in either the Turtle Toddle or Ox Trot. The Ox Trot challenge consisted of loading a bunch of coconuts onto an oxcart at L’Union Estate to be transported to the La Digue Jetty, while for the Turtle Toddle, a giant tortoise, had to be lured by a banana along a race course at the L’Union Estate, after which a large bunch of bananas had to be carried to a fruit stand by the La Digue Jetty.
After successfully delivering the coconuts and the bananas, the next challenge of this episode led the teams to the island of St. Pierre followed by Praslin, home of the famous Coco-de-Mer nut.
Sixty foreign crew members and over 40 Seychellois were involved in the production of this episode which was filled with great racing drama, humour and the incredible beauty of Seychelles.
This Amazing Race show led the teams through countries such as Chile, Germany, the Seychelles, Malaysia and China, to finish back in the United States.
